My approach
I am a psychoanalytically oriented therapist offering in-person and online psychotherapy.
I am interested in creating a space to safely explore all parts of yourself and your experience, including those parts that feel scary or impossible.
Together we can move towards greater curiosity, deeper self-acceptance and a deeper understanding of self and relationships.
This will loosen the power of your patterns and symptoms over your life. I work collaboratively, thoughtfully and gently with you towards your healing journey.

About
Carol Long
I am an HPCSA registered clinical psychologist with 30 years experience as a psychotherapist, a psychotherapy supervisor and an academic. I worked at Wits University as a professor for many years, involved in training clinical psychologists. This experience has allowed me to integrate a strong theoretical approach to psychotherapy with an empathic understanding of the therapeutic process. Now in full time private practice, I bring an appreciation of the transformative power of psychotherapy to my work.
I practice online and in-person in Kenilworth (Southern suburbs) Cape Town.

01.
I offer in-person or online psychotherapy to adults experiencing a range of difficulties, for example trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, ill health and relationship difficulties.

02.
Children work through their difficulties best through play. I offer play therapy for children, as well as parent-child therapy focused on strengthening the parent-child relationship. I also offer in-person adolescent psychotherapy

03.
I offer psychotherapy supervision for psychologists, either individually or in small groups. Small group supervision is ideal for those who would like to spend time with colleagues and learn from a group as well as a supervisor. I am interested in professional development activities.
